What is inside our fonts, and under which terms.
Hangulish and Hangul 2.0 are drawn as web fonts for this site. Below is every source whose letters or measurements we used. Credits are acknowledgements. They do not replace the original licences.
Pen, Brush and Soft pen styles
AHOS Hangulish Hand Pen / Brush / Barun and AHOS Hangul20 Hand Pen / Brush / Barun are modified from Nanum Pen (Copyright © 2010 NHN Corporation), Nanum Brush (Copyright © 2010 NHN Corporation) and Nanum Barunpen (Copyright © 2014 NHN Corporation, designed by YoonDesign).
- Nanum Pen and Nanum Brush: designed by Sandoll Communications Inc.
- What we changed: the Latin letters and Hangul letters were scaled and recomposed into Hangul syllable blocks; the six new Hangul 2.0 consonants, the silent-start circle and the circle marks were drawn by us; the fonts were renamed.
- Terms as we read them in the NAVER Nanum font license: free to use, including commercially; modification is allowed with the licence notice kept; the font file itself is not sold on its own. We do not sell these fonts on their own.
- Official source of the Nanum fonts and their licence: hangeul.naver.com. Where this page and the official text differ, the official text applies.
Clean, Light, Bold, Marker, Round and Buri styles
AHOS Hangulish V1 and AHOS Hangul20 V1 (and their Light, Bold, Marker, Round and Buri variations) use outlines drawn by AHOS. Block sizes were measured from Pretendard (SIL Open Font License 1.1, Copyright © 2021 Kil Hyung-jin). No Pretendard outlines are included.
Ideas and sources
- The Hunminjeongeum and its Eonhae and Haerye texts are the root of the system. We read the Eonhae in NAVER's full-text edition and the Haerye in a Korean Wikisource transcription.
- The original Hangulish and Hangul 2.0 tables come from the IEWT Design archive.
